
MATTIA PETRILLI
First flute by the best European Orchestras
MATTIA PETRILLI was born in Como (Italy) in 1984, and has perfected his studies with János Bálint at the Detmold Hochschule, with Jacques Zoon at the Conservatoire Superieure in Geneva, with Emmanuel Pahud and Aurele Nicolet.
Since 2004 he has been a member of the Mozart Orchestra, founded and conducted by Claudio Abbado. He was the Principal Flute with the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchestra (2006/2008) and the Symphonica Toscanini.
He is invited regularly as first flute by the best European Orchestras (London Philharmonic Orchestra, Bamberger Symphoniker, Bergen Philharmonic, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Ensemble Les Dissonances, Orchestra Sinfonica de Tenerife, Orchestra da Camera di Mantova, Teatro Carlo Felice
in Genoa, Teatro Regio of Turin…), and collaborates regularly with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of the greatest conductors (Claudio Abbado, Blomstedt, Brüggen, Chung, Gardiner, Gatti, Harding, Haitink, N. Jarvi, V. Jurowski, Kuhn, Maazel, Masur, Nelsons, Salonen, Ticciati, etc).
He is very active as a concert artist and invited by prestigious music groups and festivals in Italy and abroad, for solo and chamber music concerts.
He took part in many recordings for Deutsche Grammophon, Archiv, Chandos, X5, Harmonia Mundi,
Rai and BBC. He is a founding member of the Quintetto Papageno.
